The most frequent question I get from fans right now is some variation of “When can we read ASHFALL #4?” The answer is that I don’t know. I’ve written the first half of the book three times now. Each time, I get to a point where I’m not satisfied with the story and start over. I may have unrealistically high expectations for myself around this book. I think that’s because I’m so moved and flattered by all the love you’ve given the ASHFALL books, that I’m a bit terrified that I may let you down with the fourth one.

The book is now late–it was due to my publisher at the end of 2017. I spoke to my editor about it, and she’s still very enthusiastic about the book and wants to publish it, but also wants me to take the time to write the best book I can. For which I’m immensely grateful. So, I’ll keep working on it and try to get a good book into your hands as soon as I can. Sorry about the delay, and thank you for your patience!

In the meantime, SURFACE TENSION releases on 5-8-18. It’s a fast-paced YA thriller meant to appeal to fans of ASHFALL. More info here. I hope you enjoy it!

    My sister recommended your book to me and I fell in love with the Ashfall series. Yellowstone happens to be my favourite National Park to visit despite being an American Park (I’m Canadian). I like how you actually researched your books. My husband doesn’t read so I will have to purchase the audio book for him. I think only the first book is available on audible.com. Could you let me know if you have audio versions of the others?

Mr. Mullin, a while back u visited my school Benton Central and you told us about your book, I knew I would love the ASHFALL series because it exactly what I look for in a book, in fact I loved ASHFALL some much that I literally finished ASHFALL, ASHEN WINTER, and SUNRISE in 6 days, I couldn’t stop reading them to where I would read at the dinner table. Your book actually satisfied my taste for post apocalyptic books that had romance in it, i may be a guy but i like romances sometimes. but if you could do me the biggest favor, could u let me know when BLADES OF SPRING will be on the market because my mother promised me as soon as its out i could go buy the book.

  6. Great question! What do you think they did? I intentionally write lots of stuff in a way to leave it up to your imagination. One of the things I love about books is that readers create part of the story!

  9. Let me say I absolutely hate reading but this is the only book I have ever LOVED this book is fantastic and I am eagerly waiting for the 4th. Keep up the great work!
    P.S. I know this would be a bunch of work but please please please make a 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, etc. book! Now that is a bit much but you get the idea. I just don’t want the 4th to be the last.

  10. Loved ash fall, ashen winter and sunrise even ended up reading all 542 pages of sunrise in 1 day I loved it so much love the name of your son to be new book and take your time on it you can’t rush a good book.
    (Unless it’s me and I’m reading it then I could rush through it at an amazing speed)

  14. Hey Mike! I love your ash fall series you visited my school about a year or two ago. After that I have read the ash fall series and I have been waiting for so long for “The Blades Of Spring” I also read your most recent book “Surface Tension” and really liked it. I was possibly wanting to know or your estimated date on arrival for “The Baldes Of Spring.” Thank you!

  15. I’m going to cry at the end of the fourth book whether it’s sad or not. After searching far and wide for decent book, I stumbled upon these books thanks to my librarian. They absolutely changed my life. My feeble eighth grader mind was unable to comprehend most of the underlying themes and symbolism. I have tried to find a book series that even rivals the magnificence of the Ashfall series to no avail. The several plot advancements are executed perfectly and you deeply care about the characters. The main character is highly relatable and the imagery and detailed descriptions really allow you to build the world around yourself while flipping through the pages. A fourth book would be an absolute blessing. Mike Mullin, you are officially my favorite author and I recommend the books to everyone I know. I hope you leave us with a satisfying ending.

No offense but my question is when is the next ash fall going to be released? Plz post or respond to me.
